Zen Design Mindfulness Mindfulness means becoming more conscious of what you’re feeling, more intentional about your behavior, and more attentive to your impact on others. Zen meditation still the mind through mindful repetition of simple actions. This program teaches patterning with ink on fine paper as an easy to learn and rewarding form of daily meditation. Each session produces a design that reflects your re-balancing and meditation. Mindfulness Benefits Studies show that mindfulness can reduce your cortisol level, blood pressure, social anxiety and depression. It can increase your immune response, resilience and focus and improve your relationships — including with yourself. It will also bolster your performance at work and provide inner peace.  Two Types of Mindfulness Two aspects of mindfulness are reflected in two different Happiness University programs. The Zen Design Mindfulness program focuses on calming mindfulness. It uses the Zen technique of repetitive actions to still our mind and allow the healing respite of creative calm. The Mindfulness without Meditation program focuses on happiness mindfulness, building mindful awareness of what is making us happy and unhappy, and provides a foundation for behaviour change to build happiness. Learn more about Mindfulness Without Meditation. Calming Meditation Zen Design practice focuses the mind on simple repetitive actions that are completed with mindful care. The effect is to stop the ‘chatter’ and allow the mind to rejuvenate and re-balance. The effect is calming and significantly reduces stress levels leaving you relaxed and refreshed. You learn to recognize and understand what makes you happy and unhappy, providing a foundation for effective behaviour change. Mindfulness without Meditation has helped thousands to develop Happiness Intelligence and build healthier happier lives.   Learning Zen Design Zen Design is taught in 2.5 hour workshops. These are currently held in Cape Town and can be arranged across South Africa. Workshops will be available worldwide later in 2014. The cost is R360 which includes fine pens and 30 squares of handmade paper for one month of practice. To celebrate the Cape Town Happiness Action campaign launch the first 50 people booking will pay R360. Further packs of 30 squares can be ordered.
